It’s not keeping any of the commandments that makes us better than someone else, but it does make us “holy”= set apart. We do them because YHWH told us to and because we love Him and His commandments and we want to be more like him. We should not seek to do this to make ourselves any better than anyone else, but because we want to please our King and do what He told us to do. Why would He tell us to “Remember” the sabbath if we weren’t supposed to keep it?
All religion that does not explicitely agree with scripture is heresy, although there are true believers in every group, maybe.
But, If any person or religious group thinks they’re going to heaven just because they keep the sabbath then they’re in for a rude awakening.
Exd 31:16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, [for] a perpetual covenant.
This does not have to be a divisive issue, but it appears as though it is somewhat. I just think it’s clear and there should be no mistaking the words in scripture. what is confusing to everyone? If that commandment doesn’t matter, then what do the other ones matter. The sabbath commandment is #4. If we can disregard that one (since they are in order of importance) then what about #’s 6,7,8 shalt not kill/commit adultery/steal? Why don’t we just not follow those either?? Do you see how hypocritical that is and why lost people say churches are full of hypocrites. Because we feel we can pick and choose what is important and disregard what YHWH says is important to him.
We are not going to win souls by being hypocrites and if we do…they will be hypocrites too!
In conclusion (as i could go on) It’s not about choosing what is important to US, it is about obeying YHWH’s words and loving Him with all of our heart, mind and strength.
Deut 11 is a very good study.
